1. For today, team up with someone in your class. Preferably someone you will see several times during the day. Closely watch each other and pay attention to your partner’s behavior and actions. Focus on the five basic people skills we discussed in this article. If they are using the skills, compliment them. If they have forgotten, kindly offer some suggestions on how they could use them next time.
2. Make a list of these five primary skills and keep the list in your backpack, next to your bed, or taped to your bathroom mirror—somewhere you will read them often. Briefly note the main points about each skill that are important to you. If you do this, you’re on the path to making these skills habits so you can make a good first impression every time.
3. Think of someone who you believe gets along well with other people. List five things that person does to make a good impression and keep it. If there is a person like this at your school study what they do so you can improve your own inter-personal skills to make new friends and thrive in the social scene.
